Petit Arbre no. 1

Oui il est vrai, j'achète des ombres. Les ombres de personnes. Réfléchissez-y. Si vous êtes prêts à me vendre votre ombre, s’il vous plaît, contactez-moi. J'en ai déjà ... une. Une seule. Et bien sûr j'ai commencé à la dessiner, mais le dessin n'est pas encore fini, et il ne sera pas publié ici aussitôt car il est trop grand pour mon scanner.
En attendant, j'ai aussi commencé une nouvelle série d'ombres de petits arbres.


Richtig, ich kaufe Schatten - Schatten von Personen. Denken Sie darüber nach. Falls Sie bereit sind, mir Ihren Schatten zu veräussern, bitte ich Sie freundlichst, mit mir Kontakt aufzunehmen. Einen habe ich schon ... einen einzigen. Die Zeichnung ist allerdings noch nicht fertig. In der Zwischenzeit habe ich auch eine neue Serie mit kleinen Bäumen angefangen - so klein, dass ihr Schatten Postkartengröße nicht überschreitet.

Abgesehen davon war ich gerade bei einer Ausstellung, die mich einfach umgehauen hat: Henri Olivier macht Schattenskulpturen (auf 'travaux récents' klicken).

I sold a drawing recently (well ... not very recenlty to be honest), and to my surprise it turned out to be one that I hadn't even scanned and posted here before, probably considering it too minor!

Handheld

"Handheld" normally refers to some electronic device, but I call this drawing 'handheld' because I made it standing, simply holding the paper in the air in one hand - the paper was sufficiently rigid to allow it. I just didn't want to sit down because the light was more beautiful from the standing position.

Pour comprendre le titre de ce dessin il faut savoir que pour une fois, j'ai travaillé sans support - le papier était suffisamment rigide pour permettre de le tenir dans la main - simplement parce que je voulais rester debout, car la vue était moins belle depuis la position assise.

Der Titel dieser Zeichnung soll nur darauf hinweisen, dass ich hier stehend und ohne Unterlage gearbeitet habe - das Papier war stabil genug um dies zu erlauben. Ich wollte einfach nur stehen bleiben weil der Anblick aus der Sitzposition nicht so schön war.

Mon ami Philippe, qui m'a accompagné, a beau s'en moquer: Pour moi cela reste un des meilleurs concerts que j'ai jamais vus: Hier soir, après un workshop sur plusieurs jours, Elliott Sharp a présenté quelques compositions avec l'ensemble electroacoustique du conservatoire de Coni.

After a workshop of several days at the music academy of Cuneo (Italy), Elliott Sharp presented some compositions with the "ensemble elettroacustico del conservatorio di Cuneo" last night. One of the best concerts I've ever seen.

A view on the Theleme building in Sophia Antipolis.
It's an interesting architecture and my drawing doesn't really show a lot of it, but after a few discarded drawings (again), this one suddenly seemed to know better than myself what I was looking for...
(Anyone interested in architecture? I just found this link where the building is presented.)

Athena

The Athena building in Sophia Antipolis ... I struggled quite a bit with this view, couldn't get anything satisfying on paper for several days - probably due to the complex geometrical forms being interrupted by the trees, but that's just what is so interesting in this place.
This solution here works fine for me, and I think it's because I rather 'painted' with a long arm, instead of drawing meticulously with the hand directly on the paper as I tried the other days.
I also set the contours of the building only once the large forms were already there, this method often seems to work better than the other way round.
